Es war ein unvergeßlicher Samstagnachmittag im Juli 2011.

Ich chattete gerade mit einer Internet-Bekannten und plötzlich schrieb sie 

nur so ganz beiläufig:

"Du weißt schon, daß Amy Winehouse tot ist?"  

"Waaaaaaaaaas??!!!" - 

Nein, ich wußte es noch nicht, da ich nicht zu den Leuten gehöre, die einen Tag nicht beginnen können, ohne sich gleich die "Breaking News" anzutun - im Gegenteil, ich versuche es sogar zu vermeiden, ich bin da wohl zu sensibel für diese Welt...

1980 war ich tief geschockt, als ich hörte, daß John Lennon erschossen wurde, ein großes
 - und doch so "fernes-unerreichbares" Idol  starb - bei Amy war dies aber völlig anders.   

So unkonventionell wie sie in der Öffentlichkeit erschien, war sie ein richtiger "Anti-Star",

sie pfiff auf den Rummel um ihre Person, im Gegenteil sie litt unendlich darunter.

Sie gab sich einfach wie sie war:

Schrill, wild, frech, lustig und gleichzeitig sehr verletztlich und tieftraurig -     

deshalb kam sie mir ständig so vor, wie das talentierte "Girl next door".

Mich hatte ihre Ehrlichkeit stets sehr begeistert und - für mich - starb deshalb an diesem Tag nicht nur eine großartige Sängerin, sondern ein Mensch, der seine große Verletzlichkeit und Sterblichkeit - ungeschminkt (!) der Weltöffentlichkeit zeigte, während doch die meisten, besonders die Normalbürger,  nie "ohne Maske" vor die Haustüre treten würden.

Die Todesnachricht berührte mich so tief, daß ich ein halbes Jahr lang nicht mehr fähig war,  ihre Musik zu hören - bei John Lennon war es damals anders: 

Ich besorgte mir so schnell wie möglich seine letzte Langspielplatte...

I chattered with an internet pal and suddenly she wrote:
"Do you already know that Amy Winehouse is dead?"
"Whaaaaat???!!! 

No, I didn't know it, because I'm not one of those people which use to start 
a brandnew day by listening to "breaking news". 
Quite the contrary I tend to avoid it, maybe because I'm too sensitive for this world... 

1980 I was deeply shocked, as I heared that John Lennon was shot, a big - but also 
"untouchable" - idol died. With Amy this was totally different.
Appearing "offbeat" in public, she was a real "anti-star". 
She didn't give a damn about the hype of showbiz, instead she was suffering
because of that. - 
She always appeared to me like a nice, talented "girl next door".
I was enthusiastic by her honesty.  
She showed the world "how" she ticked and "who" she was, whereas the most 
ordinary people wouldn't leave their houses without wearing "masks".

I was so saddened by the news of her death that I wasn't able to listen to her songs
for six months afterwards - with John Lennon it was different:
I got his latest record as soon as possible...

Hier kommt die Gretchenfrage:
War Marilyn Monroe eine "Dilettantin" -
und falls ja, hinderte sie dies an ihrem 
weltweiten Erfolg und an ihrer - 
bis heute anhaltenden Beliebtheit??? ;-)


Ein paar Fakten:

• Sie hatte keinen Schulabschluß!
• Sie erlitt regelmäßige Nervenzusammenbrüche
• Sie starb 1962 und hat 2015 auf "Pinterest" bei dem Sammel-Pinboard "Marilyn Monroe"  über zwei Millionen (2.232.054)  - Fans ("Follower")!
• Klassiker & "Perfektionsguru" Friedrich 'Fred' Schiller kommt bei Pinterest, soweit ich das nachvollziehen kann, gerade mal auf etwa 1.000 Pins. ;-)

 ... und WARUM ist sie immer noch so beliebt?
Weil sie so "perfekt" war??? (ich denke nicht!!!)

in case she was, did this bother her worldwide success 
and her lasting popularity till this day ??? ;-)


Some facts: 

• she didn't finish school!
• she regulary suffered nervous breakdowns
• she died 1962 and 2015 on Pinterest there's a sample-pinboard "Marilyn Monroe" with more than two millions (2.232.054) followers!
• classic & "perfection guru" Friedrich 'Fred' Schiller  has about 1000 pins on Pinterest as far as I can see! ;-)  

... and WHY is she still so popular?
Because she was that "perfect"??? (I don't think so!!!)

Dieser zarte Poet, der bereits mit 29 Jahren an Tuberkulose starb ist für mich ein gutes Beispiel dafür, daß Romantiker alles andere als weltfremd waren und sind (es soll ja auch heute noch ein paar Romantiker auf der Welt geben!) .
Der vielseitige Novalis - alias Georg Philipp Friedrich von Hardenberg - studierte Jura, Philosophie, Mathematik, Chemie und tatsächlich Bergbau!
Spätestens hier werden die Klischees  von den "weltfremden und verträumten" Romantikern doch widerlegt: 
Der junge, zarte Romantiker arbeitete tatsächlich u.a. in den Salzminen! ;-)

Man sieht mit Geringschätzung auf Dilettanten herab, welche die Kunst aus Liebe und Freude an ihr betreiben; dagegen ehrt man die Fachleute, die sich des Verdienens wegen damit befassen.

In Deutschland sind "Dilettantismus", "Dilettant" und "dilettantisch" schon lange zu ganz üblen Schimpfwörtern mutiert! Wer sich in Germany "dilettantisch" verhält, wandert am besten aus (wenn möglich) oder reist besser gleich wieder ab!  -
Dies war aber in Deutschland nicht immer so. Mehr dazu später. -

Inzwischen ist es aber längst so, daß der Vulgärausdruck "Arschloch!",  nicht so vernichtend ist, wie der Vorwurf "Dilettant!", denn das deutsche Synonym dafür ist heutzutage nur "Stümper", dann doch lieber ein "großes Arschloch UND ein EXPERTE" sein, als ein "netter Kerl UND ein STÜMPER" ! ;-)

Aber was  bedeutet "Dilettant" eigentlich im urspünglichen Sinne?
Etwas ganz Wundervolles:
"Dilettant (italienisch dilettare aus lateinisch delectare „sich erfreuen“), Wikipedia -

wenn man sich also an einer Sache bzw. einer Tätigkeit erfreut, 
ist man - in der ursprünglichen Bedeutung  - ein Dilettant!  
Was soll denn daran "stümperhaft" sein? - Überhaupt nichts!!!  - 
Schaut man in ein Wörterbuch für Italienisch, findet man unter "Stümper" 
das italienische Wort cane, schlägt man dann hingegen unter "dilettare" nach, 
so findet man die deutsche Entsprechung: erfreuen, ergötzen, vergnügen etc.  

Im nächsten Beitrag erzähle ich, warum man insbesonders den großen deutschen "Dichtern und  Denkern" Johann Wolfgang von Goethe und Friedrich von Schiller 
die fiese Verunglimpfung des erfreulichen Wortes "Dilettant" maßgeblich zur Last legen  muß. Das passierte nämlich bereits 1799 ! ("Über den Dilettantismus").-

Ohnehin liegt der Verdacht sehr nahe, daß die feinen Herren vorallem auf "weiblichen Dilettantismus" zielten, denn damals trauten sich bereits auch Frauen mit selbstgeschriebenen Büchern auf einen männlichen Markt zu drängen.  
Was nichts anderes beweist, als daß man von "Denkern" eben nicht alles akzeptieren sollte und seien sie noch so berühmt und "unsterblich"(denn sie waren eben sehr STERBLICH, weil menschlich und deshalb unperfekt und zuweilen selber sehr "dilettantisch"!), stattdessen sollte man lieber öfter auf sein "Bauchgefühl" achten! 

Deshalb werde ich mir nun eine leckere Pizza backen!
Alles selbstgemacht - learning by doing - angefangen vom Teig:

In Germany "Dilettantism", "Dilettante" and "dilettantish" are already mutated to bad swearwords! Who is acting  in a "dilettantish" way in Germany, better emigrates (if possible) or departs at once! -  But that wasn't this way at all times in Germany... of which more later...   
Today the thing is, that the vulgar expression "asshole!" isn't that damning as the blame "dilettante!", because nowadays the German synonym therefor is just the "bungler", then you  better are a "big asshole AND an EXPERT" instead of being a "nice guy AND a BUNGLER! " ;-) 

But what actual means "dilettante" originally? 
It's something wonderful: "A dilettante is a person who enjoys the arts or someone who engages in a field without investing the usually required effort." (en-Wikipedia) - This also is similiar to  "An amateur (French amateur "lover of", from Old French and ultimately from Latin amatorem nom. amator, "lover". (en.Wikipedia).  

plus: A "dilettante" - Italian dilettare from Latin  delectare "to enjoy" (de. Wikipedia). -
 
when someone enjoys a thing or activity - in the originally meaning - 
it's called a "dilettante"! -
What's "bungling" with it? Absolutely nothing!!!

An Italian dictionary reveals the word "cane" for "bungler", but "dilettare" is:
to enjoy, to please, to delight, to delectate etc.   

Next post I'm going to tell why especially the great German "poets and thinkers" Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich von Schiller are to blame to have disparaged the joyful word "dilettant" in a nasty way . - This already happend in 1799!
Anyway it stands to reason that those gentlemen aimed at the "female dilettantism ", because at that time women already started to dare to appear with own books on a male market!

This is a proof that it's always a good idea not to accept everything  from "thinkers", no matter if those may ever so famous or "immortal" ('cause they were MORTAL (!), because they were human and therefor imperfect and sometimes even "dilettantish"), instead one rather should "go with one's gut" more often! -

Puh, das ist der "krönende Abschluß" 
meines "Everyday in May 2015 - Marathons" !

Phew, that's the culmination of 
my "Everyday in May 2015 - Marathon" ! 


Es gibt Menschen die fast in jeder Situation zauberhaft lächeln können, auch wenn ihnen 
garnicht danach zumute ist, so als ob sie solange Lächeln bis sie einen Grund dafür haben.
Ich bewundere diese Menschen, ein berühmtes Beispiel dafür ist Marilyn Monroe!

Andere Menschen hingegen ziehen oft eine "Fresse" 
und dies auch wenn sie gerade richtig glücklich sind.
Es gibt einen tollen amerikanischen Ausdruck dafür: "Resting Bitch Face"  -
dies läßt sich aber nicht gut auf Deutsch ausdrücken... ;-)

Some people are able to smile adorable, even when they are totally unhappy. 
I admire such persons, a famous example is Marilyn Monroe!

Gesundheitskost -
Deutsche Freunde sind besorgt weil ich seit Monaten immer dünner werde.
Ich antworte immer, es wären meine Sorgen, aufgrund -
Globaler Erwärmung, Weltfrieden ... und meiner Rente! 

Auch kalifornische Freunde haben begonnen mir "Brownie-Rezepte" zu schicken.
Sie haben alle Recht, ich muß gesünder Essen!

Hier ist meine eigene Kreation (inspiriert durch amerikanische Rezepte):
- Toast (die amerikanische XXL-Größe, bei der "deutschen" S-Größe hat man nur Krümel 
   im  Mund!)
- Nutella, ganz dick draufstreichen (das ist meine Idee!)
- Bananenscheiben

Ich habe dies alles gegessen, bevor ich ein zweites Toast gezeichnet habe.
Köstlich -  Nutella ist gut für die Nerven und Bananen machen glücklich! ;-)

mit der Chance mittels "Knetradierer" zu korrigieren, ist "Pastell" die erste Wahl!

Mit Rosi konnte ich mich gestern schon "warm malen",
außerdem habe ich für Kita wieder mein "besseres" Pastellpapier benutzt,
es lohnt sich - und Rosi bekommt die nächsten Tage eine Revanche! ;-)

Bobbel Boy der Schönling! ;-)
Zuerst befürchtete ich die Zeichnung mißlingt,
doch dann wurde er immer hübscher - und ich dachte:
Oops, wie sieht er denn aus? - Seine großen, blauen, leuchtenden Augen?
Als wenn er in Hollywood beim  Schminken gewesen wäre. ;-)

"Bobbel Boy the Beau" - Pastell (Pastel)

First I was afraid that this drawing could fail, but then he became prettier
and I thought: Oops how is he looking?- His great blue shining eyes, 
as if he would have been in  Hollywood to get some make-up. ;-)

Bobbeline für Euch! ;-)

Hier habe ich ein sehr billiges braunes Recyclingpapier benutzt. 
Die Farbe hatte mir gefallen. 
Die Struktur des Papieres ist ok für Pastel aber fühlt sich etwas "weich" an.

Das Befreiende ist aber auf einfachem Papier mit vertrautem Motiv einfach drauflos 
zu doodeln (engl. doodle = "Gekritzel").
Bobbeline und ich sind schon so gut vertraut miteinander (sie ist ein gutes Mädel), 
daß ich mir sicher sein kann, daß sie es mir niemals verübeln würde, wenn ich ihr Portrait 
nur suboptimal wiedergeben würde - umso unverkrampfter bin ich dann beim Zeichnen! ;-)

Here I used cheap brown recycled paper.  I like the color. 
The texture is ok for pastel but a little bit "smooth". 
For me liberating is the fact to doodle on simple paper with a familiar motif.
Bobbeline and I are very familiar together (she's a good gal!) and I'm sure she wouldn't complain if the portrait would be bad  - and so I'm able to draw very relaxed! ;-)
